It was in Stephanie Ross’ genes to begin a career in both the health and education sector, as her grandfather was an educator, administrator and superintendent with the SCDSB. She credits him for sparking her interest in education and developing a passion for lifelong learning.
Stephanie works for the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit as a School Board Liaison Public Health Nurse. It was a natural fit as she grew up in Barrie and is both an Eastview Secondary School and Georgian-York graduate.
Stephanie collaborates with SCDSB and the health unit to implement health initiatives to students and schools across the county. She is thrilled to be able to work with the Healthy Schools program. Encouraging people to live healthy lives and preventing injury and illness is what drives Stephanie to make a difference in the community.
With seven years of experience under her belt, Stephanie hopes to impact and inspire all members of the school community to get involved in making schools healthier places for children to learn.
When Stephanie is not helping to create health-related programs, she enjoys cooking, travelling, podcasts and spending time with family and friends. But most of all, she is constantly searching for an outdoor adventure – you can find her heading outside for a jog or for some morning yoga.
