Life Skills students paint replica artwork for SCDSB Education Centre

Painting9 Life Skills students from Innisdale Secondary School presented a painting to Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) Superintendent of Education Paula Murphy in April 2015. This painting will be displayed at the SCDSB Education Centre.

The students were commissioned to paint a large-scale piece of artwork after their work in 2014 on a replica painting was completed for their school.

The painting at the Education Centre is based on the painting “Learn From the Fall” by Melissa McKinnon, a Canadian abstract landscape artist.

Check out the gallery below to see the progression of the artwork and the shirts the students made for the grand unveiling at the Education Centre.

Innisdale special needs students enjoy any opportunity to work with Art, especially an accomplishment for students to participate and be apart of the Education Center in Midhurst. There was a question asked while I was at the board offices, “who did that”? Adding one of the pictures posted at the top of this info page could possibly benefit any viewers visiting the Ed center if it was to accompany the mural hanging beside the elevator, giving the group of artists and the school involved. Thank you in advance for the deserved recognition of this wonderful and inspiring project.
